Time to Believe in Myself - SMAK Saturday

Happiest of Happy Saturdays! Rachel here and it's time for another SMAK Saturday! I just love using these SMAK kits for my art journal pages and mixed media pieces.

This page started as a "mop up" page for all my left over paints on my craft table. I used some Distress Paints to stamp the grids, butterflies, flowers, and sentiment.

Both the May SMAK and the April SMAK were used in my page. These two may be my favorites for mixed media yet!

It's time to believe in myself

Don't forget that a BRAND NEW SMAK was just released a couple days ago! The sentiments in the new kit are beautiful.

Have a fabulous, stampy weekend! Thanks for stopping over :)

KOTM Reminder - Spread Your Wings

Hi! Have you seen this month's Kit of the Month - Spread Your Wings?  If you are considering subscribing, this weekend is your last chance before the new June KOTM is released.

The Unity KOTM is the best kit you will ever find!  It's packed with great images and sentiments and I promise you will have hours of fun creating with them.  If you would like to find out how to subscribe, please click here to read all about it.

Here's my card using the butterfly and script image from the May KOTM.  I stamped the image using Distress Ink Peacock Feathers and then sponged some gelatos directly onto the image for some interest.  The sentiment is stamped on vellum using Versamark and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder.

Here is the finished card:

Growing in Unity

Hi and welcome to Growing in Unity Wednesday! This week Laura is up sharing her wonderful Unity creations!

Here is a little something about Laura:

"My name is Laura Turcotte, and I live in a small town in the Laurentians in Quebec, Canada, with my hubby and 3 children, black Lab, and chickens. I have 2 twin teenage boys, whom are graduating high school next month, and a 5 year old princess who is starting school in the Fall. My life right now revolves around stinky socks and tutus.
I started scrapbooking about 14 years ago, when my boys were toddlers. But I was always crafting, even as a child. Fast forward a few years, and whoa! Cardmaking and stamping were introduced to me. And with that, Unity stamps! Boy, are they addictive! Collection quickly grew!

Love learning new techniques, and seeing new stamps at Unity. Keeps the creativity flow going!
Thanks for letting me share a little piece of me this week!"

Check out her fabulous card:

Be sure to swing on by her blog each day this week for inspiration and your chance to win some Unity goodies!

Till next week!

We had 16 beautiful entries (including the ones in the comments section) and lots of comments on these entries.  We love when you share your creations with us.

The project winner is Kim Ross

The commenting winner is Cathymac
She wrote on Carol's blog
Lucky you…this is so cute, Carol! Love the fluorescent colors and of course the bling! Hugs!

we can do hard things...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I recently had a heartfelt conversation with a dear friend of mine... We laughed together, and we cried together... While we were speaking of a particularly difficult subject, I was reminded of a quote I fell in love with the first time I saw the movie 'Patch Adams':

"When I was a girl I would look out my bedroom window at the caterpillars; I envied them so much. No matter who they were before, no matter what happened to them, they could just hide away and turn into these beautiful creatures that could fly away completely untouched."
-Patch Adams

Have you ever stopped to consider what happens to the caterpillar inside that dark little cocoon? As it's entire body changes and morphs... That kind of change isn't easy... it isn't instantaneous... and I wonder, if caterpillars could talk, would they tell us that it's a little scary to become something so different... to trust wings you have never before had?

While I may not be a caterpillar, I am continually growing and changing... we all are.  We don't have to be tomorrow what we were yesterday.  Sometimes change takes time, often it's hard or even scary... But we can change, wounds can heal, and most of all, we can do hard things.

 How wonderful is that?

Just something I've been trying to remind myself of lately...

Because we TOTALLY love all our Unity friends, we love to share YOUR work too!
Here's one I recently saw on the Unity Show and Tell FB page...

Amazing, right? I love how simple yet effective it is to stamp such a detailed image in a bold color and just leave it! Sometimes people (including me) get a little intimidated by the super detailed images because they don't think their coloring skills are up to snuff... Well, why not try this completely approachable way of using those intimidating stamps?

Check out her full blog post HERE!

And... because I'm a HUGE sucker for amazing watercolor skills...

This BEAUTY was done by Kathy...  I just ran across it on Pinterest. Check out her blog HERE. Her work is amazing!

Have a wonderful week everyone!

KOTM Monday with Andrea!

Happy Monday!
I want to wish you all a Happy Memorial Day!
And I want to thank everyone in the Armed Forces
For everything you do each and every day!

Now on to my project for today using May's KOTM- 'Spread your wings'

I used the GORGEOUS angel wings image along with the accompanying sentiment
This card would be good for so many occasions
Graduation, new job, encouragement, etc
I kept the card simple so that the focus was on the detailed image
and stamped it in black to make sure all the elements were visible.

Does this image inspire you?
What kind of card would you create?

Images like this are one of the reasons I love my KOTMs
I mean seriously love
